FAQs
What’s Trimteek made of?
It’s made from outdoor grade UV stabilised virgin PVC and is fully recyclable. The product is 5mm thick and is the same material all the way through; it’s not a laminate and does not have a wear layer so effectively, should it get damaged, you could remove several millimetres without harm.
Where is it made?
Trimteek is manufacured entirely in our factory in Hampshire, U.K.
How do you clean it?
Normal cleaning is a hose down at the end of the day. Obviously, if you get a spillage during the day, it’s better to wipe up there and then, but generally, it’s just a case of a wash down as and when. AVOID acetone as this would cause damage. The product itself is impervious, so any marks that are difficult to remove will only be on the surface. Try soapy water, methylated spirits are good – not white spirit, as it can leave a residue. Failing that, you can abrade the mark out with 40-60 grit sandpaper, making sure that you abrade in the direction of the grain.
Does Trimteek change colour?
After fitting it will go a slight shade darker. But this will be unnoticeable. After which, it will hold its colour permanently.
What are the templates made from?
We recommend the templates are made from a polythene patterning sheet, supplied by ourselves.
Is it waterproof?
It is not sold as a waterproofing system.
What happens if it gets damaged or scuffed?
Any indentation will normally recover, either using very hot water or a hot air gun, but be careful not to burn the surface with the gun. It you do get a bad mark, burn or scratch, you can abrade it out with 40-60 grit sandpaper, but make sure that you abrade in the direction of the grain. Should the damage be more than cosmetic, it is possible to cut out a plank and replace it.

What can you stick the product onto?
The adhesive itself is solvent-free, so providing the surface is non-flaking, dust free and degreased, the adhesive will work well on most surfaces.
Can it be laid over existing teak decking?
Generally, we would not recommend this. However, we are aware some customers have fitted synthetic teak decking over existing teak decks in the past. This has usually been in cases where it has been almost impossible to remove an older, thick teak deck. We recommend first using epoxy to seal it. Due to the uncertainties, we would not be able to guarantee the installation when fitted over an existing teak deck.
Has it got any acoustic properties?
Being a 5 mm polymer layer, TrimTeek will offer some acoustic properties, but it is not sold as a sound-deadening product.
What guarantee does it come with?
The TrimTeek product itself comes with 3 years guarantee due to the fact that it is a DIY product, we obviously cannot guarantee the installation.
How long does it last?
TrimTeek is made of the same material, which we manufacture under the Permateek brand, which has an expected lifespan of 15 to 20 years+.
Does it get hot?
For those concerned about synthetic decks and how hot they get in direct sunlight, the truth is all synthetic decks, just like real teak will get hot. We don’t believe TrimTeek will be markedly hotter than any other comparable synthetic deck product.
Decks with white and silver caulking will be cooler than those with black caulking.
